Discover Scandinavia and the Norwegian Fjords

Northern Europe is a region shaped by water. Coastlines stretch for thousands of kilometres, cities have grown around harbours and rivers, and the sea has connected people, trade and cultures for centuries. This journey explores that connection, travelling through Scandinavia, Northern Germany and the Netherlands before cruising Norway's remarkable coastline.

Our tour begins in Stockholm, a city spread across a network of islands where elegant architecture meets contemporary Scandinavian design. An "Under the Bridges" cruise offers a different perspective of the Swedish capital, revealing its waterways, historic buildings and green spaces before we continue to Copenhagen. Here, time is spent exploring Tivoli Gardens, the city's colourful waterfronts and the much-loved Little Mermaid, one of Denmark's most recognisable landmarks.

The journey continues south into Northern Germany, where Hamburg and Bremen reflect the region's rich maritime history. Historic ports, impressive architecture and lively public squares tell the story of cities that have long been gateways to Northern Europe. We then travel to Amsterdam, where canals, narrow townhouses and centuries of trading history combine to create one of Europe's most distinctive capitals.

While the cities each have their own character, the landscapes become increasingly dramatic as we board Holland America's Zuiderdam for a ten-night cruise along Norway's coastline. Travelling by sea provides a unique perspective on this remarkable country, where steep mountains rise directly from the water and small coastal communities remain connected by the fjords that have shaped life here for generations.

The Norwegian fjords are among Europe's most recognisable natural landscapes. Carved by glaciers over thousands of years, they are a place of deep waterways, cascading waterfalls and quiet villages set beneath towering cliffs. Cruising allows time to appreciate the scale and beauty of these landscapes while enjoying the comfort of life on board. Zuiderdam offers a relaxed atmosphere, excellent dining, entertainment and spacious public areas from which to watch the scenery unfold.

Combining historic cities, coastal cultures and one of the world's great cruising experiences, this tour offers a varied introduction to Northern Europe. Travelling by coach, rail, ferry and ship, each stage of the journey reveals another perspective on a region renowned for its history, landscapes and connection to the sea.
