First things first, do we pay commission to Travel Agents?

We absolutely do! Not only do we pay a generous 10% commission to our partnered Travel Agents, this 10% is off the total twin-share cost of our inclusive tours.

This means not only are you getting 10% on land, cruise, and air packages you are also getting 10% on meals, tipping, and any government taxes and fees!

We are a leading New Zealand owned and operated tour operator totally focused on providing a range of interesting and exciting fully escorted world tours to the mature and discerning traveller.

We have been touring for over 45 years and have a real passion for providing our clients with a first class, personalised, and stress free experience that not only meet but exceeds their expectations time and time again.

We pride ourselves in providing excellent service and experiences which is evident in our frequent travellers. Many of whom have travelled with us for years and have become dear friends.

We back our tours and our team 1000% and firmly believe we can help you offer a tour experience like no other to your mature clients.

We take care of everything – from our friendly office team, to our globe trotting tour leaders we will be with your clients every step of the way. We’re a responsive, hands-on team of travel professionals that will take care of all the details so you don’t have to.

The standard of our tours is best be described as First Class – with the use of 4 & 5 star accommodation wherever possible. While cost and value are always important, we are definitely not a budget tour operator.

We are a fully bonded member of the Travel Agents Association of New Zealand. We are also a completely independent operator.

Who is the typical Maher Tours traveller?

Our tours are designed to cater for the “mature” traveller, often but not always semi-retired or retired.

Our people come from throughout New Zealand with a growing number of Australian travellers choosing to join us.

Ages generally range from the 60s upwards though we often do have younger travellers – mother/father and adult daughter/son combinations are not uncommon.

Our groups are generally made up of a mixture of couples, friends travelling together and those travelling alone. The main reasons we find people join our groups, apart from the attractions of the destination and itinerary, are for hassle-free travel, security and companionship.

A very large proportion of our travellers are repeat customers. We have many, many travellers who have travelled with us on in excess of 10 tours while we also boast a few who have travelled with us on over 30 tours.

What is the typical tour size?

While this varies depending on the destination as a boutique tour operator our tour sizes are typically between 15 to 25 travellers. Allowing for maximum comfort, personalised service, and meaningful friendships and interactions to take place.

Can my client share?

Absolutely! We have many ‘single’ travellers joining our tours. Some prefer to pay the supplement to guarantee single room accommodation while others would like to share accommodation for reasons of companionship and cost. If your client would like to share accommodation, then we will do our best to match them up with someone bearing their preferences in mind.

How do your tour leaders work?

All our tours are accompanied by a tour escort, either from this office or one of our team of tour escorts.

They are there to manage the day-to-day operation of the tour and to ensure that all included services are delivered.

They aren’t tour guides in the traditional sense, we have local guides, tour directors and agents to fill that role and our tour leaders work alongside them to ensure the smooth operation of the tour.

Our tour leaders are there for the wellbeing of our travellers. To take care of any and all issues that may arise, to ensure they get the most out of their tour with us, and provide invaluable companionship.

They help people to get to know each other and build a family-type atmosphere amongst the group, and to ensure that nobody is left to their own devices – unless they choose to be so.

Our tour escorts have lives outside of the tours and come from a range of backgrounds – nursing, city commercial, farming, airline, travel industry … But they all have something in common – a love of travel and a desire to assist their fellow travellers to make the very most of every day on tour.

Will my clients still be my clients?

Maher Tours will ensure that your travel agency name and address are included as the point of contact for that client and will forward all correspondence through your office, unless you advise us otherwise.

For any additional bookings, we will continue to record you as the client’s agent and you’ll continue to receive 10% commission on each booking.

Can we team up for a presentation or joint marketing?

We would be very happy to join you and your clients for a social get together and talk about our tours. This is a great way to get to know each other and of course to introduce our tours to your clients. If you would like to arrange one of these presentations, please let us know.
