Andy Richards – Owner & Director
I have been very fortunate to travel to, and live in, many parts of the world. As a result of these experiences, when I returned to NZ, I knew travel would always be a special part of my life.
So when the opportunity to own Maher Tours came along over 10 years ago, fair to say I was very excited, and that excitement has grown every day since.
The most enjoyable part of leading tours for me is getting to know the people who travel with us, and be with them as they have the experience of a life time. Ensuring the tour is stress free, relaxed and fun is my aim for all the tours we operate, but it is the lasting friendships that are made on tour that I consider the greatest success.
Emily Newrick – Senior Consultant
I joined the Maher Escorted Tours team in 2013 after 6 years in corporate travel and I absolutely love it! I feel very fortunate to work for a company that holds customer satisfaction above all else and I really enjoy hearing our travellers talk about what a fantastic time they had on tour and the wonderful memories that will stay with them forever. I have been lucky enough to partake in a few trips myself over the years and I would count India and Cambodia as my two top destinations so far – we have tours to both of these countries in 2018, as well as many other destinations, so I hope you will join us and see for yourself what a magnificent experience a Maher Tour is.
Vivienne Healey – Senior Consultant
I have had the pleasure of working with the Mahers for a number of years now, in business and retail travel roles and latterly as a tour consultant. I enjoy being part of the team that puts the tours together, advising on pre and post tour accommodation and I love hearing about clients’ tour experiences when people return home. I have travelled extensively, most recently on the Mahers Colours of India tour in 2014 and earlier this year I experienced a Uniworld River cruise from Basel to Amsterdam followed by some independent travel visiting friends in France. Outside of work I am a keen walker and tramper and I sing in two choirs.
Sarah Newrick – Senior Consultant
Starting out in the hospitality industry, Sarah decided to make a change and joined Maher Escorted Tours in mid-2015. Working alongside her sister Emily, and the rest of the office team, Sarah helps organise the tour itineraries and manage the bookings on a day-to-day basis. With her friendly personality and attention to detail, she will ensure you enjoy a hassle-free holiday, allowing you to simply sit back and relax!.
Anne Maher – Office Administrator
I enjoy and have enjoyed many travelling experiences over the years, having spent 7 years in London in the 70’s on my OE, with all of Europe at my fingertips! After marrying, travelling occasionally on the Tours with Kevin to various parts of the world, with some delightful travelling companions over the years. I work part time at Maher Tours and enjoy my workmates, the client contact, especially hearing their travel stories, for some, it’s been the first tour they have done, and that’s so exciting. I now have 2 out of 3 children residing in London and I love going to visit them when I can. My travel bucket list is by no means complete!
Angie Little – Digital Marketing Consultant
Hello! I’m Angie, the gal behind the scenes working on our website, social media, graphic design, and marketing. I’ve come to Maher Tours from across the road – Parliament, working in Political Communications and Marketing. Also a professional photographer and videographer by trade if I’m not attached to my computers you can find me behind a lens or two.
My travel style is stress, fuss, and rush free. Much like Maher Tours. I’m a massive foodie and firmly believe in culinary tourism! I love reading all about your highlights while on tour with us and enjoy sharing your feedback with potential travellers.
Kerry Maher – Consultant (Part-time)
I have enjoyed working in the travel and tour business for most of my working life. It was over 30 years ago following my return from my OE that I asked my father, Bill, if there was a job for me in the family business. How time flies if you’re having fun!
Family has played a huge part in my life, both at home and in business with father Bill and my late brother Kevin, and now with Andy and his family taking over. In recent years, with our children grown up, I have been fortunate to have my long-suffering wife, Mary Ann, join me on a number of tours, just reward for the many times I left her behind to cope with our young family.
Over the years, I have seen some wonderful sights and there have been many highlights but the most well-remembered ones involve people …. momentous birthdays in faraway places, 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries, even an engagement party for a couple who had met on a previous tour. Which goes to prove the adage that while we may remember the places we have visited, it is the people we shared the experience with that brings it all to life.
I look forward to sharing many more highlights “on the road” for a few years yet.
