I have been very fortunate to travel to, and live in, many parts of the world during my career in the IT industry. As a result of these experiences, when I returned to NZ, I knew travel would always be a special part of my life.
So when the opportunity to own Maher Tours came along 15 years ago, fair to say I was very excited, and that excitement has grown every day since.

The most enjoyable part of leading tours for me is getting to know the people who travel with us, and be with them as they have the experience of a life time. Ensuring the tour is stress free, relaxed and fun is my aim for all the tours we operate, but it is the lasting friendships that are made on tour that I consider the greatest success.

I joined the Maher Escorted Tours team in 2013 after 6 years in corporate travel and I absolutely love it! I feel very fortunate to work for a company that holds customer satisfaction above all else and I really enjoy hearing our travellers talk about what a fantastic time they had on tour and the wonderful memories that will stay with them forever. I have been lucky enough to partake in a few trips myself over the years and I would count India and Cambodia as my two top destinations so far – we have tours to both of these countries, as well as many other destinations, so I hope you will join us and see for yourself what a magnificent experience a Maher Tour is.

Sarah Newrick – Senior Consultant

I joined Maher Escorted Tours in 2015 after beginning my career in the hospitality industry and have not looked back since. Starting off with Maher Escorted Tours in Wellington, I relocated to Wanaka with the business in mid-2018 and love my new surroundings!

After catching the travel bug in my teenage years, my personal travels have spanned across the Pacific Islands to South America, Asia, Europe and beyond – however, I am always on the lookout for my next travel destination!

Not only do I enjoy organising such a variety of itineraries and applying my past travel experiences into my daily work, my role at Maher Tours offers me the reward of hearing your amazing travel stories & feedback and knowing I played a small part in all of this. I feel very lucky to be part of a team who work hard to bring together trip-of-a-lifetime travel experiences to our client base and I look forward to providing you with a hassle-free holiday.

Alana Clifford – Senior Consultant

I have recently joined the fantastic team here at Maher Tours and am enjoying getting to know our loyal Maher Tours clients, as well as those that are choosing to travel with us for the first time!  I began my travel career in Auckland in 2002 and have spent the last 15 years working as a retail travel consultant here in Wanaka, making peoples dreams come true.   I have three young children, and we all love getting out and about outdoors as a family and I look forward to sharing my passion for travel with them as they get older.  I love working in the travel industry as no two days are the same, the world is constantly changing and there is always something new to learn or discover.

Pavla Mertlik – Marketing Consultant

I have recently joined the Maher Tours team, and am loving the new challenge of a different demographic. I am a world traveler but 6 years ago decided to settle in our little bit of paradise, Wanaka. Our backyard offers extensive, hiking, skiing, biking and so much more which I enjoy during my spare time. I love to share my experience and love for the outdoors with the people around me, and love the feeling it brings me. I am happy to bring my experience to Maher Tours and see what we can create for our wonderful clients.
